IBPS PO 2026 Notification Overview

The Institute of Banking Personnel Selection (IBPS) conducts the Probationary Officer (PO) examination every year to recruit officers in 11 public sector banks including State Bank of India associates, Punjab National Bank, Bank of Baroda, Canara Bank, and others. The IBPS PO 2026 notification is expected to be released in July-August 2026 with approximately 4,000-5,000 vacancies.

IBPS PO 2026 Eligibility Criteria

Before starting your preparation, ensure you meet the eligibility requirements:

Age Limit: 20 to 30 years as of the registration date. Age relaxation applicable for SC/ST (5 years), OBC (3 years), PwD (10 years), and Ex-Servicemen categories.
Educational Qualification: Bachelor's degree in any discipline from a recognized university. Final year students can apply provisionally.
Nationality: Indian citizen, or subject of Nepal/Bhutan, or Tibetan refugee settled in India before 1962.
Computer Literacy: Operating and working knowledge of computer systems is essential.
Language Proficiency: Candidates should be able to read, write, and speak the official language of the state they are applying for.

IBPS PO 2026 Exam Pattern

Key Point: Prelims is qualifying in nature. The cutoff is decided section-wise as well as overall. You must clear both to be eligible for Mains.

Negative Marking: 0.25 marks deducted for each wrong answer in objective papers.

Quantitative Aptitude Strategy for IBPS PO 2026

Quadratic Equations & Data Sufficiency (10% weightage): Easy marks once concept is clear.

Shortcut Maths Tip: Memorize multiplication tables up to 30, squares up to 50, cubes up to 20, and percentage-fraction conversions (1/2=50%, 1/3=33.33%, 1/6=16.66%, 1/7=14.28%, 1/8=12.5%, 1/9=11.11%). This will reduce your calculation time by 40%.

Reasoning Ability Strategy

Reasoning is the most scoring section in IBPS PO if you have practiced enough puzzles. The key is to develop a systematic approach.

Target: Solve 3-4 puzzles daily. Start with easy ones and gradually move to moderate and difficult levels.

Read & Note: Read all conditions carefully. Make a rough diagram/table immediately.
Fixed Information First: Place all direct/positive clues before attempting negative clues.
Cross-Verify: After completing, verify every condition to ensure no contradictions.

Frequently Asked Questions

While 3 months is tight, it is possible if you have a strong foundation in Quant and Reasoning. Working professionals should aim for 5-6 months. Our crash course at Shortcut Maths is designed for intensive 3-month preparation.

For general category, a score of 75-80+ out of 225 (objective + descriptive) is usually safe for interview call. However, aim for 85+ to be comfortable.

SBI PO is considered slightly tougher due to higher competition and more complex reasoning puzzles. However, the syllabus is almost identical. Preparing for IBPS PO covers 90% of SBI PO preparation.

Typing speed is not tested for IBPS PO. However, good typing helps in the online exam and in your job later. Focus on accuracy over speed during the exam.
