Syllogism Tricks
Syllogism is one of the easiest scoring topics if you use the Venn diagram method.
Only 6 valid conclusions exist. Memorise them and eliminate wrong options instantly.
All A are B: Draw A inside B
Some A are B: Two circles overlapping
No A are B: Two separate circles
Some A are not B: Part of A outside B
Puzzle Solving Strategy
Puzzles carry maximum weightage in banking exams.
Read all clues first before solving
Make a table/diagram - never solve mentally
Fill direct clues first
Use elimination for indirect clues
Never spend more than 15 minutes on a puzzle set
Coding-Decoding
Common patterns:
Positional: Each letter shifted by +1, -1, etc.
Reverse: Word written backwards
Opposite: A=Z, B=Y (Atbash cipher)
Mixed: Combination of above
Inequality Shortcuts
Quick rules:
P > Q > R = S means P > Q > R = S (transitive)
P > Q < R: No relation between P and R
P >= Q = R means P >= R
Direction Sense
Always draw a rough diagram. Use coordinate system: North = +Y, East = +X.
Blood Relations
Use family tree diagram. + for male, - for female. Dotted line for spouse.
Series Completion
Check difference first, then ratio, then squares/cubes, then combination.
