Introduction to SSC CHSL 2026

The SSC Combined Higher Secondary Level (CHSL) exam recruits candidates for LDC (Lower Division Clerk), DEO (Data Entry Operator), Postal Assistant, and Sorting Assistant posts. SSC CHSL 2026 is expected to fill approximately 5,000+ vacancies.

SSC CHSL Tier 1 Exam Pattern

Marking: +2 correct, -0.50 wrong. Same as CGL Tier 1.

SSC CHSL Tier 2 Exam Pattern

Tier 3: Skill Test / Typing Test

  • DEO: 8,000 key depressions per hour on computer (English)

  • LDC/JSA: 35 words per minute (English) or 30 wpm (Hindi)

  • Duration: 15 minutes

  • Qualifying in nature: No marks added to final merit

Quantitative Aptitude Syllabus for CHSL

  • Number Systems: Computation of Whole Number, Decimal and Fractions

  • Fundamental Arithmetical Operations: Percentage, Ratio, Square roots, Averages, Interest, Profit & Loss, Discount, Partnership, Mixture

  • Algebra: Basic algebraic identities, Graphs of Linear Equations

  • Geometry: Familiarity with elementary geometric figures, Triangle, Circle

  • Mensuration: Triangle, Quadrilaterals, Regular Polygons, Circle, Right Prism, Right Circular Cone, Right Circular Cylinder, Sphere, Hemispheres, Rectangular Parallelepiped

  • Trigonometry: Trigonometric ratios, Complementary angles, Height and distances

  • Data Interpretation: Frequency polygon, Histogram, Pie Chart, Bar diagram

General Intelligence & Reasoning Syllabus

  • Analogies, Symbolic operations, Symbolic/Number Analogy, Trends

  • Figural Analogy, Space Orientation, Semantic Classification, Venn Diagrams

  • Number Series, Non-Verbal Series, Coding and Decoding

  • Word Building, Coding-Decoding, Numerical operations

  • Critical Thinking, Problem Solving, Emotional Intelligence

English Language Syllabus

  • Spot the Error, Fill in the Blanks, Synonyms/Homonyms, Antonyms

  • Spellings/Detecting Mis-spelt words, Idioms & Phrases, One word substitution

  • Improvement of Sentences, Active/Passive Voice, Direct/Indirect narration

  • Shuffling of Sentence parts, Shuffling of Sentences in a passage

  • Cloze Passage, Comprehension Passage

General Awareness Syllabus

  • History, Culture, Geography, Economic Scene, General Policy & Scientific Research

  • Awards and Honours, Books and Authors

  • Important Days, International and National Organisations

  • Current Affairs (last 12 months)

  • Science (Physics, Chemistry, Biology basics)

Typing Test Preparation

Many students clear Tier 1 and Tier 2 but fail the typing test. Don't be one of them.

  • Practice daily: Minimum 30 minutes typing practice

  • Use online tools: TypingMaster, Ratatype, Keybr

  • Target speed: 45 wpm (gives buffer above 35 wpm requirement)

  • Accuracy: Maintain 95%+ accuracy

  • Start early: Don't wait until Tier 2 results

4-Month CHSL Preparation Plan

Complete CHSL preparation with typing test support. Only 4 students per batch.

  • Complete Quant basics: Number System, Percentage, Ratio, Average

  • Reasoning: Analogy, Classification, Series, Coding-Decoding

  • English: Grammar rules, Vocabulary (20 words/day)
